Venue - Hill Farm Barns

Wedding catering at Hill Farm Barns.

A venue we love so much we got married there ourselves. We know every corner of the barns, how the light falls through the afternoon, and exactly what it takes to serve beautiful food from a kitchen that starts as a blank canvas.

Wedding breakfast served by Rudd Catering at Hill Farm Barns in Norfolk

Hill Farm Barns holds a particular place in our family. Ryan and Sophie got married there, so we have stood in that room as a couple as well as a catering team - and that changes the way you plan a day. We know where guests naturally gather for drinks, how long the room takes to turn around between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast, and where a service team can move without ever being in the way.

The one practical thing worth knowing early is the kitchen. At Hill Farm Barns the catering space is a blank canvas, so mobile kitchen equipment hire is needed - ovens, hot holding, refrigeration, prep tables and washing-up facilities all come in with us. We build a full working kitchen on site, quote it clearly as part of your proposal so there are no surprises, and take every piece of it away again at the end.

That set-up is what allows a genuinely ambitious menu in a barn: plated three-course wedding breakfasts, canapes handed round outside, sharing platters down the middle of long tables, and proper evening food later on. Nothing is scaled back because of the building.

The bar is provided by the local pub, which keeps drinks service straightforward and lets us focus entirely on the food. We work around their timings so arrival drinks, table wine, toast drinks and evening food all line up neatly.

A day at Hill Farm Barns

How it tends to unfold.

Reception drinks & canapes

Fizz, bottled beer and something soft handed round outside while photographs happen. Yorkshire puddings with pulled beef and horseradish, honey mustard sausages, tempura prawns, tomato and basil crostinis.

The wedding breakfast

Plated modern British or relaxed sharing platters. Chicken in a creamy white wine sauce, seabass with mash and dill pesto, minted lamb with dauphinois - built around you rather than picked from a fixed package.

The mobile kitchen

Because the venue kitchen is a blank canvas, we bring the full set-up: ovens, hot holding, refrigeration, prep space and wash-up. Quoted openly in your proposal and cleared away completely afterwards.

Evening food & the bar

Hog roast rolls in boxes, mac and cheese or loaded fries at around nine. The bar itself is provided by the local pub, so drinks service is in experienced hands while we keep the food running to time.

Hill Farm Barns questions

The practical answers, plainly.

Do you cater weddings at Hill Farm Barns?
We do, and it is a venue very close to us - we loved it so much we got married there ourselves. We have catered plated wedding breakfasts, sharing feasts, canapes and evening food in the barns, and we know the building well enough to plan timings around it rather than guess.
Is a mobile kitchen needed at Hill Farm Barns?
Yes. The kitchen space at Hill Farm Barns is a blank canvas, so mobile kitchen equipment hire is needed. We bring in ovens, hot holding, refrigeration, prep tables and washing-up facilities, build a full working kitchen for the day and take it all away afterwards. It is quoted clearly in your proposal so you always know what it costs.
Does that limit what food we can have?
Not at all - it is exactly why we hire the equipment in. With a proper kitchen on site you can have a formal three-course plated wedding breakfast, canapes for a hundred guests, and hot evening food later, all cooked and served to the same standard as any fitted-kitchen venue.
Who provides the bar at Hill Farm Barns?
The bar is provided by the local pub, which means drinks service is handled by an experienced team who know the venue. We coordinate closely with them so the food timings - canapes, wedding breakfast, speeches and evening food - all line up smoothly.
What does catering at Hill Farm Barns cost?
Every wedding is quoted individually. As a guide, plated wedding menus start from £59 per guest, hog roasts from £36 and buffets lower again, with the mobile kitchen hire shown separately so the proposal is transparent. Our menus page has the full detail.
How far ahead should we book the catering?
Twelve to eighteen months ahead is comfortable, particularly for a full day of canapes, wedding breakfast, evening food and bar. Summer Saturdays and bank holiday weekends fill first. Winter and midweek dates can often be arranged at shorter notice, so it is always worth asking.
