Venue - King's Lynn Town Hall

Catering at King's Lynn Town Hall.

A beautiful historic building on our own doorstep. The Town Hall has a fully fitted kitchen, so there is no additional equipment cost - and we have served canapes in the courtyard and long, relaxed dinners in the room upstairs.

Canapes plated by Rudd Catering for a King's Lynn Town Hall wedding reception

King's Lynn Town Hall is minutes from our base, and it is one of the loveliest rooms in west Norfolk to eat in. We catered a summer wedding there for a couple who married over the road at the Minster, then crossed with their guests for drinks and canapes in the Town Hall courtyard before coming upstairs for a long, unhurried three-course meal broken up by speeches.

The practical good news is the kitchen. The Town Hall has a fully fitted kitchen, so there is no additional cost for mobile kitchen equipment hire - the money goes into the food rather than into ovens and refrigeration. It also means plated courses leave the kitchen together and arrive upstairs hot, which is exactly what you want for a formal dinner.

The one thing we cannot do here is the drinks. The bar is provided by a contracted outside company rather than the venue itself, so bar service is provided by them rather than by us. We simply build our timings around theirs - canapes served while their bar pours arrival drinks, courses paced around the speeches, and evening food later if you want it.

Menus are entirely yours. Sourdough and olives to share, seabass on creamy mash with dill pesto and crispy seaweed, vegetable moussaka for vegetarians, and a finish of chocolate brownie or a local cheese platter - that is one real Town Hall menu, and yours will be built the same way.

A Town Hall day

How it tends to unfold.

Courtyard canapes

A short walk from the Minster and straight into the courtyard for canapes - Yorkshire puddings with pulled beef and horseradish, tempura prawns, honey mustard sausages, crostinis.

Dinner upstairs

A long, relaxed three courses in a beautiful room. Sharing sourdough and olives, seabass with mash and dill pesto, moussaka for vegetarians, brownies or a local cheese platter to finish.

The fitted kitchen

The Town Hall kitchen is fully equipped, so there is no mobile kitchen hire to pay for. Plated courses go out together and arrive hot, and your budget goes into the food instead.

Drinks by the venue

The Town Hall has its own bar in house, so we don't provide bar service here. We coordinate our food and front-of-house timings around their bar so nothing overlaps awkwardly.

Town Hall questions

The practical answers, plainly.

Do you cater weddings at King's Lynn Town Hall?
We do, and it is right on our doorstep - we are based in South Wootton, so there is no travel charge. We have catered a summer wedding there with canapes and reception drinks in the courtyard after a ceremony at the Minster, followed by a long three-course meal upstairs. The menu is built around you, so you choose from canapes, plated courses, sharing platters, buffets or afternoon tea rather than getting a fixed set menu.
Does the Town Hall have a kitchen?
Yes - it has a fully fitted kitchen, so there is no additional cost for mobile kitchen equipment hire. That is genuinely helpful: your budget goes into the food and service rather than into hiring ovens and refrigeration.
Can you provide the bar at King's Lynn Town Hall?
No. The bar is run by a contracted outside company rather than the venue itself, so we can't provide bar service at this venue. We work our food and service timings around their bar instead, so arrival drinks, canapes, dinner and speeches all flow together.
What sort of menu suits the room?
It is a formal, historic room, so plated courses suit it beautifully - though a relaxed sharing menu, buffet or afternoon tea works too. One Town Hall wedding had sourdough and olives to share, seabass with creamy mash, dill pesto and crispy seaweed, and a choice of chocolate brownie or local cheese to finish.
What does catering at the Town Hall cost?
Every event is quoted individually. As a guide, plated wedding menus start from £59 per guest, buffets lower again, with no kitchen hire or travel charge to add for King's Lynn. Our menus page has the full detail.
How far ahead should we book the catering?
Twelve to eighteen months ahead is comfortable for a wedding, especially for summer Saturdays. Midweek dates, smaller receptions and winter bookings can often be arranged at shorter notice, so do ask even if your date feels close.
