Historic house party
A joint birthday party in a beautiful historic house in the centre of King's Lynn - Scottish-themed tables and a basement disco.

A few weekends ago we had the privilege of working in a beautiful historic house in the centre of King's Lynn. The occasion was a joint birthday party for mother and children and they went big!
We were there ready to serve welcome drinks and canapés to around 70 friends and family. The weather all day had been awful - it had poured with rain - but shortly before guests arrived the rain stopped and the sun made its first appearance of the day! We were able to serve in the garden as planned, which we weren't sure would happen even an hour before.
The canapés the family chose were honey mustard sausages, tomato, onion and basil crostinis, and cheese straws. When it was time to be seated the guests moved inside to two rooms that had been laid with long tables decorated in a Scottish theme. After quick speeches it was time for dinner - fillet steak, mashed potato and green beans with gravy and horseradish on the table for people to help themselves. Vegetarians had vegetable wellington, and children sausage, mash and peas. Dessert was a rich chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream.
Everything we used to serve food and drinks was from the family's collection of bone china crockery, beautiful glassware, giant gravy jugs, tiny pepper shakers - gorgeous, and very scary when it came to washing up! Once we were cleaned up we left the party to their disco in the basement. What a night! Soph x
